World Health Organization (WHO) engages Zepheira to provide critical tools for classification updates

The World Health Organization (WHO) is in the process of updating key public health classifications, including the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and has contracted Zepheira to accelerate their objectives. Zepheira has been involved in the past serving on the WHO’s Health Informatics Technical Advisory Board and providing key strategy, technology architecture and infrastructure for steps for modernizing ICD, such as providing a Web-friendly identifier scheme for the terms and hierarchy.  WHO has now engaged Zepheira to provide critical tools to support the latest round of classification updates and collaborative review culminating in ICD11.  Zepheira’s technical contributions include modules to integrate the review process with social media and automated population of disease information gathered from the Web and then subject to further expert review.
